Grace Perret finished with a team-high 17 kills, five blocks and one service aces as the Carroll University women's volleyball team outlasted Ripon College 19-25, 21-25, 25-18, 25-20, 15-8 in a five-set nonconference dual meet at Weiske Gymnasium on Tuesday night.
It was the sixth five-set victory of the season for steadily improving Carroll, which has won two of its last three (including a 1-1 finish at the Lakeland Triangular over the weekend) and improved to 12-13 overall with the resilient effort.
Tied 7-7 in the decisive fifth set, Carroll responded with a gritty, statement-making 8-1 run (powered on kills by Perret and
Courtney Kirley and six attack errors by Ripon).
Katie Jensen contributed 13 kills and seven blocks for the Pioneers, who generated double-digit kills in the first four sets (highlighted by 16 kills with four errors and .222 hitting percentage in the match-tying fourth-set victory).
Rebekah Andreae followed with eight kills, six blocks and two aces for Carroll, which amassed 78 points with 58 kills, six aces, 97 digs, 14 blocks and 53 assists.
Cora Riffle collected three aces, 13 digs and 20 assists.
Alianiz Rivera-Rosado had 27 digs an five assists with
Lindsey Diep adding 14 digs and 23 assists for the Pioneers.
