Katie Jensen finished with an individual season-high 18 kills and six blocks as the Carroll University women's volleyball team defeated Augustana College 25-22, 16-25, 21-25, 25-23, 15-5 in a five-set College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin dual meet at the Carver Physical Education Center on Wednesday night.
It was the regular-season conference dual finale for Carroll, which earned its seventh five-set victory to improve to 3-5 in the league standings and 13-13 overall.
The Pioneers have won two consecutive matches and three of the last four (also including victories over Benedictine and Ripon).
Jensen, a tenacious 5-foot-8 junior opposite hitter from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, currently leads the team with 217 kills.
Tied 4-4 in the decisive fifth set, Carroll answered with a match-clinching 11-1 run to earn a resilient. confidence-building road victory.
Kaitlin Gawelski, who had eight kills, scored the final point of the night by finishing on a strong kill off an assist from
Lindsey Diep.
Peyton Frost contributed 14 kills, 12 digs, two blocks and one service ace for the Pioneers, who amassed 72 points with 57 kills, 11 blocks, four aces, 94 digs and 53 assists.
Grace Perret had three of her nine kills in the third set for Carroll.
Ashley Konecki registered seven blocks and one ace with Diep collecting two aces and 20 assists.
Alianiz Rivera-Rosado had 24 digs and 11 assists with
Cora Riffle adding 19 digs and 22 assists.
Jaden Julius had a team-high 16 kills and three blocks for Augustana, which dropped to 4-4 in conference and 16-11 overall.
