DECATUR, Ill. - Josie Peterson, a sophomore from Jefferson, Wis., won both the 50-yard freestyle (25.14 seconds) and 100 freestyle (56.23) and swam the second leg of the first-place 400 freestyle relay as the Carroll University women's swimming and diving team defeated Millikin University 109-96 in a College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin dual-meet opener at the Decatur Family YMCA on Saturday.
It was the second consecutive victory for Carroll, which generated a season-high point total and improved to 2-1 overall.
The Pioneers showcased their depth by winning five events, earning seven second-place finishes and placing third in nine others.
Kailee Sitter, a sophomore from Janesville, Wis., won the 400 individual medley (5:14.22), was second in the 100 butterfly (1:07.86) and swam the third leg of a third-place 400 medley relay.
Chopper Ceshker, a sophomore from Lake Geneva, Wis., added a victory in the 500 freestyle (5:51.77), was second in the 200 freestyle (2:11.01) and swam the opening leg of a third-place 400 freestyle relay.
