OSHKOSH, Wis. – The Carroll University men's indoor track and field team had a nice afternoon, scoring 69 team points and finishing in second place at the UW-Oshkosh Early Bird Invite on Saturday.
Peter Marra re-set his newly acquired school record in the 60m hurdles race while winning the event for the Pioneers.
In track events, Marra finished first in the finals with his new PR time of 8.38. Marra entered the race in second place after a prelim run of 8.52.
Trenton Nickel finished second in the men's 400m dash, followed up by
Jacob Radovan's eighth-place finish. The Pioneer men gathered 26 points in the distance events.
Spencer Kirsteatter,
Kyle Adams, and
Charles Quast gave Carroll 18 points in the 5000m run,
Holden Thielke finished fourth in the mile run, while
Ty Termaat provided a sixth-place run in the 3000m. The Pios 4x4 team of Marra, Nickel, Raatz, and
Sawyer Caves finished second with a 3:27.26.
In field events,
David Burgess finished fifth after jumping .04 meters higher than last week in the high jump.
Steven Hermsen collected nine total team points in the shot put and the weight throw events against stacked Division-I competition from the University of Auburn. Joining him in the top eight in the weight throw was
Jimmy Hinkley, scoring three points.
Carroll sets its sights on the new year, for their next meet on Saturday, January 21 at Wisconsin-Whitewater.
