ELKHORN, Wis. - The Carroll University men's tennis team began the second half of its season with a 9-0 nonconference dual meet loss to high-powered Wartburg College at Four Lakes Athletic Club on Saturday afternoon.
It was the second non-league dual loss of the season for Carroll, which dropped to 0-2 overall.
The Pioneers suffered six straight-set singles losses in the challenging head-to-head battle.
Ian Hofland, a sophomore from La Crosse, Wis., fell to Wartburg's Griffin Steiniger 6-2, 6-3 in an intriguing match at No. 3 singles to drop to 1-1 in dual competition and 1-3 overall.

Luke Barter from Buffalo Grove, Ill. at No. 1 doubles and fought to an 8-3 loss to Wartburg's Jackson Eells and Kyle Sehlin.
Carroll's season continues with a nonconference dual against Lawrence University at Four Lakes Athletic Club on March 4 at 6 p.m.
