LEESBURG, Fla. --The Carroll University softball team took a 5-1 lead in the first inning and never trailed from there on the way to a 16-1 win over the Bethany (WV) Bison on Saturday.
Junior Grace Bradley (1-0) started in the circle and picked up the win for Carroll. The right-hander went five innings, giving up one run on four hits, allowing one walk and striking out seven.
Senior Madison Wagner led the way offensively for the Pioneers, going 3-for-3 in the ballgame with a double, a walk and two RBIs. Senior Kaylee Learman furnished a noteworthy day at the dish as well, going 1-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. Junior Lauren Harshbarger also contributed, going 1-for-2 for Carroll with two RBIs.

The Pioneers (2-1) were trailing 1-0 in the first inning when they first put runs on the board. Carroll's offense started clicking and put up five runs, including a two-run double off the bat of Learman.
The Pioneers then held the Bison scoreless before getting back on the board the very next inning. The Carroll offense exploded for five runs, highlighted by a one-run flyout off the bat of Harshbarger, which brought the Pioneers lead to 10-1.

Carroll held the Bison without a run before their offense got back to their scoring ways the next inning. The score remained 16-1 for the rest of the game, as the Pioneers coasted to the win.
