Pios Drop Two Games in Clermont

The Carroll University softball team was sluggish offensively today, scoring two runs in their two games against Endicott and Concordia Wisconsin.  

Game one --
Endicott's walk-off in the seventh caused the Carroll Pioneers to lose a heartbreaker to the Gulls by the score of 2-1 on Monday.

Grace Bradley (1-1) got the ball to start for Carroll (4-2) and took the loss. The right-hander went six innings, giving up two runs, just one earned, on five hits, allowing three walks and striking out four.

Kaylee Learman led the way offensively for the Pioneers, going 2-for-2 in the ballgame with a home run, a walk and an RBI. Mathena Higgins compiled a noteworthy performance at the plate as well, going 1-for-2 with a double and a walk.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Pioneers were trailing 1-0 in the fourth inning when they first put runs on the board. Learman put Carroll on the board with a one-out solo home run off Couto. Endicott then scored the final run of the game after Bradley put the lead off batter on first. 

GAME NOTES

Breanna Roberts (1-2) started and took the loss in the circle for Carroll (4-3).

In the batter's box, the Pioneers were paced by Wagner, who went 1-for-3 on the day with an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Pioneers were trailing 7-0 in the sixth inning when they first put runs on the board. Carroll got an RBI single from Wagner, scoring Aurora Insko from second base. The Pioneers were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
