The Carroll University Pioneer softball team went 2-3 in games today at Legends Way in Clermont, Florida, at the site of THE Spring Games.
Game one --The Carroll Pioneers took a 4-0 lead in the first inning and never trailed from there on the way to a 9-1 win against the St. Norbert Green Knights on Thursday. The pitching duo of Breanna Roberts and Riley Pavelka threw a combined no-hitter in the victory.
Roberts (2-2) got the win for Carroll (5-3). The right-hander went three shutout innings without giving up a hit, no walks and striking out four. Freshman Pavelka, in her first career appearance, also pitched well, going two innings, surrendering one run without allowing a hit, walking none and striking out three.
Senior Madison Wagner led the way offensively for the Pioneers, going 2-for-2 in the ballgame with three RBIs. Junior Mathena Higgins compiled a standout day at the plate as well, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Sophomore Bridget Rath also contributed, going 1-for-1 for Carroll with two RBIs.

The Pioneers got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with two runs in the top of the first inning. Carroll's offense started clicking and put up four runs, including a two-run single off the bat of Wagner.
