MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Carroll University women's lacrosse team earned a sizeable 15-4 victory over the Hamline Pipers at the U of M Dome on Saturday afternoon.
Katrina Hardin led the Pioneers scoring with six goals on seven shots and a team-high three draw controls.
Alicia Van Dale played just under 51 minutes and collected six saves and the victory.
The Pioneers (2-1) ripped off 27 shots, 20 of which were on goal. Carroll collected 16 shots in the first half alone. Despite Carroll's 21 turnovers, The Pioneers were able to complete 24-27 clears attempts.
Clara Jelacic scored the first goal of the game on a
Grace Brockman assist three minutes into the contest.
Janu Patel, Jelacic, Hardin, and
Lexi Kaltenberg racked up five goals in the first quarter while Van Dale recorded three saves. Hamline got on the board with 4:15 left in the first half, but the Pioneers had scored three times before. Patel took advantage of a free-position goal with 1:38 remaining and gave Carroll an eight-goal lead going into halftime.
Hardin opened up the scoring in the second half, followed soon by a Brockman free-position goal to put the Pioneers up 10. After a yellow card, Hamline scored on a free-position, man up goal.
Ariana Cullam responded with a goal 42 seconds before the end of the quarter to restart the running clock.
Hamline scored less than a minute into the fourth quarter, but Hardin responded 24 seconds later. Cullam and Hardin scored the in final 15 minutes along with one more Hamline goal to finish out the contest.
The Pioneers will head back to Carroll and host Augsburg on Sunday afternoon at Schneider Stadium.
