MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Carroll University men's outdoor track and field team finished up in second place with 98 points at the competitive Wisconsin Lutheran Warrior Invitational on Thursday.
Peter Marra,
Steven Hermsen,
Kevin Lind, and the men's 4x400 team captured victories.
In track events, Lind finished third in the prelims at the 100-meter dash but jumped into first place with a time of 10.91. In the men's 800,
Zach Benes,
Nathan Raatz, and
Trenton Nickel finished second, third, and fifth respectively to gain 18 points for the Pioneers. In the 110 hurdles, Marra finished the prelims in second place but placed first in the finals with a time of 15.36. Newcomer
Augustus Herman finished third in the 400-meter hurdles race with a time of 1:00.26, and
Cooper Albert collected team points in the men's 3000 steeplechase event. The Carroll 4x400 team comprised of Marra, Nickel, Benes, and Raatz finished two seconds ahead of Carthage College to take the win. In the 4x100, Marra,

In field and throwing events,
Marshawn Fullilove and
David Burgess both finished in the top eight to collect team points in the men's high jump event. Hermsen picked up his first-place finish in the discus event, setting a new meet record with a throw of 54.63 meters. Hermsen's throw catapults him up to number one in the nation as of Thursday night. Hermsen finished up in second place in the shot put, with a throw of 14.76 meters. In the hammer throw, Hermsen and Hinkley collected team points with a fourth and sixth-place finish, respectively.
