Men’s Lacrosse Struggles at Home Against Augie

WAUKESHA, Wis. – The Carroll University men's lacrosse team struggled against the Augustana Vikings on Saturday, falling 3-22. Zach Mehrtens tallied two goals for the Pios, while Danny McGee assisted on two goals. Spencer Lautner picked up 10 ground balls.

The Pioneers (1-7, 0-3 CCIW) tallied just 14 shots, but nine of which were on goal. Cole Faust made 20 saves, including 12 in the first quarter alone. The Pioneers caused 11 of the Viking's 23 turnovers, and Carroll collected 41 ground balls and won nine faceoffs.

The Pios were shut out in the first quarter, and didn't get their first goal until there was 3:41 left in the first half, as McGee found Harrison on a fast-break play.

Mehrtens took advantage of an extra-man opportunity with a goal from McGee in the third quarter. In the fourth, after the Pioneers won the faceoff, Mehrtens took a shot himself and scored unassisted.

Carroll will have two of their final three games at home, playing against the Cardinals of North Central on Wednesday, April 20 at Schneider Stadium.
