The Carroll University men's tennis team suffered back-to-back College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin dual-meet losses versus Millikin University (at Elkhorn's Four Lakes Athletic Club) and Illinois Wesleyan University (at New Berlin's Princeton Club), falling 9-0 in both matchups Friday.
Carroll dropped to 0-4 in the conference standings and 1-10 overall.
vs. Millikin
Jack McCaffery, a freshman from Waukesha, Wis., lost in straight sets at No. 1 singles, falling to Millikin's Clayton Maack 6-3, 6-0.
Ian Hofland, a sophomore from La Crosse, Wis., won six games in an intriguing battle at No. 3 singles but lost to Millikin's Holden Owens 6-3, 6-3.Â
The No. 3 doubles tandem of
Ryan Strupp, a senior from Allenton, Wis., and
Ben Pierson, a junior from Janesville, Wis., lost to Millikin's James Broach and Reiss Naylor 8-5
vs. Illinois Wesleyan
Jordan Nowell, a senior from Waukesha, Wis., fell in straight sets at No. 6 singles to Millikin's Jordan Sibley-Diggs 6-0, 6-3.
Nowell combined with McCaffery for a challenging showdown at No. 2 doubles, losing to Millikin's Shanku Nair and Justin Piotrowski by an 8-4 margin.
