Andrew LaBelle won in straight sets at No. 1 singles as the Carroll University men's tennis team defeated Wisconsin Lutheran College 8-1 in a nonconference dual meet at the Jean Kilgour-Trailblazer Tennis Complex on Wednesday afternoon.
Carroll claimed five of its six singles matches to set the tone.
It was the second consecutive victory of the early season for LaBelle, a freshman from Mukwonago, Wis., who defeated Wisconsin Lutheran's Aidan Newberg 6-3, 6-2.
Ryan LaBelle, also a freshman from Mukwonago, Wis., followed with a straight-set victory at No. 2 singles, ousting Asa White 6-3, 6-2.
Jack McCaffery contributed a three-set victory at No. 3 singles, outlasting Jon Kannenberg 6-4, 6-7 (4), 10-4 for the Pioneers.
David Eman claimed a straight-set victory at No. 4 singles, beating Zadic Torline 6-2, 6-3.
Luke Barter added a straight-set victory at No. 5 singles, defeating Josh Hennen 6-4, 6-3.
The LaBelle's combined at No. 1 doubles, winning 8-4 for the Pioneers. The No. 2 duo of Eman and McCaffery contributed an 8-3 victory and the No. 3 tandem of Barter and
Layton Carls rounded out the performance by winning 8-3.
Carroll's lineup consisted of one senior, one sophomore and four freshmen.
