DECORAH, Iowa - The Carroll University women's volleyball team went 2-0 on the opening day of competition of the Luther College Invitational at the Regents Center on Friday night, sweeping Lawrence University 25-11, 25-10, 25-13 in the opening match and defeating Hamline University in five sets 22-25, 26-24, 25-13, 18-25, 16-14.
The strong showing snapped a six-meet losing streak for Carroll, which improved to 6-8 overall on the season.
Katie Jensen combined for 25 kills in the first-day, back-to-back victories.

Jensen and
Peyton Frost each contributed a team-high nine kills to lead the way in a rout of former Midwest Conference intra-state rival Lawrence.
Jadyn Holman followed with six kills and one block for the Pioneers, who generated double-digit kill totals and five or less errors in all three sets en route to a .326 hitting percentage, finished with 43 kills, 10 service aces, 45 digs and 38 assists.
Maggie McGough finished with 16 digs and five aces for Carroll, which amassed 17 kills with only five errors in the decisive third set.
Cora Riffle added six digs and 19 assists in the rout.
Lawrence dropped to 1-13 overall.
It was the second sweep of the season.
vs. Hamline
,Jensen finished with 16 kills and five blocks as the Pioneers overcame an early one-set deficit to earn their third five-set victory of the season.
Rebekah Andreae contributed nine kills and four blocks for Carroll, which finished with 60 kills, 85 digs, 13 aces, eight blocks and 59 assists.
Grace Perret followed with nine kills, 16 digs and six aces,
Maggie McGough had 25 digs and
Cora Riffle added 30 assists.
The Pioneers generated 15 kills in the opening-set victory for the Pioneers, who had double-digit kills in all five sets and finished with a .178 hitting percentage.
Tied 14-14 in the decisive fifth set, Jensen delivered a kill to regain a lead and then the Pioneers sealed a victory as the result of a Hamline attack error.
Hamline dropped to 1-12 overall.
