WAUKESHA, Wis. – The Carroll University women's soccer team failed to overcome a stingy Wisconsin-Oshkosh defense in a 0-2 loss on Wednesday night at Schneider Stadium. The Pios were led by
Grace Tumilty with three shots.
The Pioneers (7-2-1) put up 14 shots but only five of them were shot on goal attempts. Carroll only found the corner twice in the game, with both attempts coming in the second half.
Caitlin Fitzsimons recorded two saves with her two goals allowed. The Pioneers held onto the ball 56% of the game and spent the majority of the time in the attacking half of the field but were shut out for just the second time this season.
The titans began the game after a strong Pioneer offensive possession with a quick shot attempt that was misplayed by Fitzsimons and rolled to the back of the net. Carroll went on to take four more shots in the period, as Oshkosh subbed in fresh legs rapidly throughout the half.
Brielle Ingalsbee and
Elizabeth Weinberg were the only two Pioneers to force Titan saves in the first 45 minutes.
It only took Oshkosh five minutes into the second half to take a 2-0 lead with an unassisted goal after a rebounded shot. Weinberg,
Ally Scoma, and
Kenzie Blau were all able to tally a shot on goal but were unsuccessful in their scoring attempts.
The Pioneers jump back into CCIW action on Saturday with a road trip down to Elmhurst on Saturday, October 1 at 7:30 PM.
