WAUKESHA, Wis. -- The Carroll University women's soccer team picked up their first win of the 2022 season on Tuesday night with a 1-0 win over Wisconsin-Platteville in front of the Schneider Stadium faithful.
Isabel Kothe scored the game winner in the 83' minute to take the advantage.
The Pioneers (1-0) held possession over Platteville for over 55 minutes of the game. Carroll spent 73% of that time in their attacking half of the field. The Pios recorded 17 shots, nine corners, and
Caitlin Fitzsimons tallied four saves.
Grace Tumilty led the group with five shots, while Simone Lippman and Kothe tallied three each.
The Pioneers held the ball in their attacking half of the field for over 30 minutes in the first half, recording 10 shots.
Maddie Below and Lippmann got looks at the goal but the attempts were saved by Platteville.
In the second half, after spending most of the game with starters, the Pioneers subbed in Kothe,
Brielle Ingalsbee, and
Ally Scoma to get fresh legs on the ball. Kothe got a look from the low side of the 18 yard box, and bent her shot towards the far right corner of the goal to beat the keeper. The Pioneers still applied pressue in the remaining time, but thwarted any attempts by Platteville.
Carroll will stay at home for the next few games, facing Wisconsin Lutheran on Thursday, September 8 at 7:00 PM. Carroll is 8-0 against the Warriors since 2003, and have shut them out over the past seven contests.
