WHITEWATER, Wis. – The Carroll University men's indoor track and field team collected 89 team points in their third-place finish at the Karl Schlender Invitational hosted by Wisconsin-Whitewater on Saturday.
Steven Hermsen won two events for the Pioneers, as well as the men's 4x400 team taking home first place.
In track events,
Peter Marra collected a second-place finish in the 60m hurdles, while
Kevin Lind added five team points in the men's 60m dash.
Nathan Raatz scored eight points in a second-place showing in the 600m, with
Ethan Weber taking fourth in the 800m for five points.
Spencer Kirsteatter and
Charles Quast collected nine total points in the distance races of the mile and 3K, respectively. The 4x400 team comprised of Marra,
Trenton Nickel, Rattz, and Weber finished with a time of 3:35.73.
In field events, Hermsen launched his way past the competition with a throw of 18.27 meters.
Jimmy Hinkley finished right behind him in second place with a distance of 16.34 meters. In the shot put, Hemsen's throw of 15.15 was enough for first, while
Brady Reusser added four points in a fifth-place finish.
David Burgess and TJ Fullilove scored 12 team points in the high jump with heights of 1.95 and 1.80m, respectively.
The Pioneers will return the first weekend in February with a two-day meet at Carthage College.
