APPLETON, Wis. - The Carroll University volleyball team defeated non-conference foe Lawrence University in three sets Tuesday night. The Pioneers won the first set 25-11, before finishing off the match with 25-18 and 25-10 victories in the second and third set, respectively. The Pioneers recorded 41 kills and a .353 hitting percentage on the night, while Lawrence registered 13 kills and a hitting percentage of .056.
Kylie Wittnebel led the Pios with 10 kills, while
Megan Aalsma and
Emmie Magnin added eight apiece.
Cora Riffle led Carroll (13-11) in both assists (13) and digs (11), while
Payton Depies and
Cearstin Laird each recorded a match-high four service aces. Laird also finished with eight digs and four assists.
Lawrence (4-18) was led by Aliana Butler-Gray's six kills. Dana Mestey added team-highs of 11 assists and nine digs.
Carroll will now get back to conference play, as they'll host Carthage College on Saturday. That match will begin at 6 p.m. at Van Male Fieldhouse in Waukesha, Wis.
