WAUKESHA, Wis. - The Carroll University women's volleyball team was swept by fierce, intra-state rival Carthage College 25-12, 25-19, 26-24 in a College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin dual meet at Van Male Field House on Saturday night.
Carroll entered the contest riding the momentum of five consecutive victories (including a sweep of Wheaton to earn its first league win of the season) but dropped to 1-5 in conference and 13-12 overall.
Kaitlin Gawelski finished with a team-high eight kills and one block for the Pioneers, who combined to generate 30 kills in the battle.
Katie Jensen contributed six kills with
Peyton Frost and
Rebekah Andreae each following with five kills for Carroll, which had 13 kills with five errors and .242 hitting percentage in the second set.
Maggie McGough collected 14 digs, three assists and one service ace for the Pioneers.
Payton Depies added 11 digs and 18 assists.
Liv Carel finished with 11 kills and three blocks for Carthage, which improved to 4-2 in conference and 14-11 overall.
