Metamora, Ill. -- The Carroll University women's golf team struck a team score of 339 on day one of the 2023 CCIW Women's Golf Championship. The Pioneers sit in fifth place in a field of eight in the tournament.
Tessa Lawson, came as Carroll's number one golfer and held her stop as she is tied for 24
th place and first on the team with a round of 83 after day one. The freshman led the way as she had strong round will having two birdies and four pars on the round.
Maddie O'Brien and Lauren Lostetter tied for 33
rd and second on the team with rounds of 85. O'Brien struggled on the front nine but was able to clean up the back finishing just +4 on the back nine. Lostetter was just +5 after the front nine and finished the round +14.
Marisa Boehler came into the day as the Pios number two and finished fourth on the team with a 86, and
Shaelynn Feuerstein scored a 93 to finish tied for 39
th. To wrap up the Pios scoring after round one
Lynea Sekany shot a 95 and sits tied in 41st.
