ELMHURST, Ill. - Carroll's volleyball team fell to Elmhurst Friday night in three sets. The Blue Jays won the first set 25-15, before also taking the next two 25-16 and 25-15, respectively.
Elmhurst (11-4, 1-2 CCIW) recorded 30 kills in the match, while Carroll posted 17. The Blue Jays also held the edge in aces (8-1), blocks (25-17) and digs (41-37).
Carroll (8-11, 0-4 CCIW) was led by Rebekah Andrae and
Talia Johnson, who each led the team with four kills.
Kaitlin Gawelski added three blocks, while
Payton Depies and
Lindsey Diep led the Pioneers in assists (10) and digs (10), respectively.
Elmhurst was led by Lucy Anderson and Keely Larson with eight kills apiece. Anderson also led the team with six blocks, while Alli Schwartz had a match-high 11 assists. Jade Wiley led the Blue Jays in both aces (4) and digs (12).
Carroll will be in action again on Saturdday with a pair of matches at the Edgewood College Triangular. The Pioneers will play Concordia (Wis.) at 2 p.m., before taking on Edgewood at 4.
