RIPON, Wis. - The Carroll University women's track and field team finished third at the season-opening eight-team Ripon College Winter Open at the Willmore Center on Saturday.
It was the first official meet for Carroll first-year head coach Rick Bellford, whose squad scored 83 points in the challenging indoor competition.
Vanessa Uitenbroek won the shot put with a distance of 13.53 meters (or 44-4.75) and was second in the weight throw (16.66m or 54-8) to lead the Pioneers.
Taylor Olund followed with a second-place finish in the 300-meter dash (45.50).
Maria Falk was second in the shot put (13.39m or 43-11.25) and third in weight throw (15.18m or 49-9.75).
The Pioneers added a third-place finish in the 4x400 relay (4:23.11).
Other top-eight individual finishers for Carroll were:
Ani Tollerud, fourth in 400 (1:05.89);
Lexi Elegbede-Peer, fourth in 60 (8.15) and fourth in 200 (27.39);
Rebekah Buboltz, fourth in 800 (2:24.80);
Cate Gudaitis, fifth in weight throw (13.63m or 44-8.75) and seventh in shot put (11.57m or 37-11.50);
Katelyn Duber, fifth in triple jump (10.02m or 32-10.50);
Kaitlyn Brucci, sixth in shot put (11.96m or 39-3);
Madeline Simpson, seventh in pole vault (2.88m or 9-5.25);
Brooke Davies, eighth in 800 (2:39.34),
Grace Pequignot, eighth in shot put (11.32m or 37-1.75).
