KENOSHA, Wis. - The Carroll University women's swimming and diving team placed sixth in the demanding three-day Carthage College Classic (held Thursday, Friday and Saturday) at the Koenitzer Aquatic Center.

Carroll continued to showcase its talent, depth and athleticism over the course of the challenging mid-season event, finishing with 687 points.

Josie Peterson demonstrated her heart, determination and mental toughness as she claimed an individual title in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 53.74 seconds, finished second in the 50 freestyle (24.43), swam the opening leg of the fifth-place 200 freestyle relay and anchored the sixth-place 400 medley, 400 freestyle and 800 freestyle relays.

Peterson also etched her named Carroll program history as she responded with a memorable, record-breaking effort in the preliminaries of the 100 freestyle, finishing in 53.08 to surpass the previous mark of 53.10 (established by former standout Val Julian on February 21, 2016).
She later followed up on the standout effort by establishing a school record in the 200 freestyle in 1:58.17 (breaking the former mark of 1:58.58 set by Carroll's Lindsey Coons in 2019).

Kelly Gordan contributed a second-place finish in the 200 butterfly (2:16.82), was 10th in the 400 individual medley (4:57.84) and achieved a career-best time in swimming the third leg of the sixth-place 800 freestyle.

Nicole Johnson placed seventh in the 100 butterfly (1:01.66), was 11th in the 200 butterfly (2:28.74) and swam the third leg of the 200 freestyle, 400 medley and 400 freestyle relays for the Pioneers.
