NEW BERLIN, Wis. - The Carroll University men's tennis team lost to the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point 5-4 in a nonconference dual meet at the Princeton Club on Friday.
It was the first dual loss of the season for Carroll, which entered having won five consecutive matches but dropped to 5-1 overall.
David Eman, a freshman from Harnosand, Sweden, won in straight sets at No. 4 singles for the Pioneers, defeating Connor Paullin 7-5, 6-2. It was the fifth straight individual victory for Eman, who mproved to 5-0 in duals and 5-2 overall.
Luke Barter, a senior from Buffalo Grove, Ill., followed with a straight-set victory at No. 5 singles. It was the seventh straight victory for Barter, who improved his team best-record to 6-0 in duals and 7-1 overall.
Layton Carls, a freshman from St. Francis, Wis., won in straight sets at No. 6 singles. Carls has won five straight matches and improved to 5-1 in duals and 6-2 overall.
Carroll's other victory came from its No. 2 doubles team of
Jack McCaffery and  Eman, who outlasted Connor Paullin and Hayden Schreier 8-3.Â
