BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Steven Hermsen of the Carroll University men's indoor track and field team finished in sixth place in the weight throw at the 2023 NCAA DIII Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday afternoon. Hermsen is now a two-time USTFCCCA All-American in the event.
 
Hermsen, a grad student from De Pere, Wisconsin, had one of his best competitions of the season, landing over 18 meters on every attempt. Hermsen made finals with his third throw that eclipsed 18.91 meters. On his second attempt in finals, he went .01 meters better, finishing with a season-best 18.92-meter toss.
 
Hermsen competes in the shot put event on Saturday, March 11 at Nationals. Hermsen will start in the first flight at 11 AM.
