NEWBERG, Ore. – The Carroll University women's lacrosse team met a powerhouse in George Fox on Thursday evening, falling 7-21 to the Bruins. Katrina Hardin tallied three goals to lead the Pioneers.
 
The Pioneers (6-2) were outshot 38-16, but 14 of Carroll's shots were on target, leading to seven George Fox saves. Rebecca McDaniel stood in goal and tallied eight saves, including four in the second quarter. Carroll completed just 13-24 clear attempts and was held to 19 ground balls.
 
George Fox opened the game with the opening draw but the Pios held strong on defense early on. Lexi Kaltenberg tallied the first shot on goal for the Pios, but George Fox soon took over by scoring four unanswered in the quarter. The Bruins opened the second with the same energy, going up 6-0 before Grace Brockman scored on a free-position goal. Hardin scored her first of the game and scored Carroll's fourth off a woman-up situation, but the Bruins led 13-4 at halftime.
 
Janu Patel added a goal in the third and the fourth and Hardin in the fourth, but George Fox broke 20 with 5:16 left in the contest.
 
Carroll will come home and play on Wednesday, March 22 at Schneider Stadium against Concordia Wisconsin.
