Angola, Ind. – The Carroll University men's lacrosse team lost 1-13 yesterday against Trine University. The Pios were only able to score a singular goal on day.
Jake Gehl faced 65 shots on the day, 37 of them were on target. Gehl made 24 saves on the day trying to keep the game within reach.
The Pioneers (1-7) struggled offensively only shooting the ball 16 times and turning it over 32 times on the day.
Spencer Lautner returned from an injury and led the Pioneers in ground balls (5) and caused turnovers (2).
Carroll would lose the first two face-offs leading to two quick goals by Trine. Carroll would then score with 8:36 to go in the first period. Making it 1-2 game. The Pioneers would battle defensively but after five straight shots on the following possession Trine would grab another goal. This would spark a 9-0 run for Trine as they would take a 1-11 lead into the half. The offensives struggles continued for Carroll going into the second half as they would not score a goal. However, the Pioneer defense picked up and only allowed two second half goals. Allowing Trine to escape with 1-13 victory.
