Pioneers Stunned by Aurora

WAUKESHA, Wis. – The Carroll University women's lacrosse team surrendered ten third-quarter goals in its first loss of the season, falling 5-22 to Aurora University. Clara Jelacic scored a hat-trick for the Pioneers and caused two turnovers.
 
The Pioneers (3-1) were outshot 35-14, and Carroll only recorded two saves. The Pios turned the ball over 29 times and went just 13-24 on clear attempts. Aurora held a steady advantage in draw controls, including 5-1 in the first quarter and 8-3 in the third.
 
Katrina Hardin scored the first goal of the game on a Jelacic pass, but the Pioneers surrendered five unanswered. Jelacic scored three times in the second quarter, followed by Janu Patel, but the Spartans held an 8-5 advantage at halftime. In the second half, Aurora scored 14 unanswered goals, holding Carroll to just six shots in the final 30 minutes.
 
The Pioneers will stay at home this week and welcome in the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on Wednesday night at 5 PM.
