Rock Island, Ill. – The Carroll University men's lacrosse was on the road as they played Augustana College in a CCIW conference matchup. Unfortunately, the Pios couldn't get their offense going as the Vikings ran away with a 3-12 victory.

Spencer Lautner, and
Zachary Szuba scored all three of Carroll's goals on the day.
The Pioneers (3-11) got up 29 shots during the game, 14 of which were on target.
Jake Gehl faced 64 shots throughout the game, with 32 shots on target. Gehl was able to make 20 saves. Along with his goal, Lautner led the way for the Pioneers in caused turnovers with 6, and a season-high in ground balls with 10.
The game started with Augustana scoring two goals in the first three minutes of the game. Forcing Carroll to call an early timeout. Out of the timeout, Carroll would win the faceoff and Lautner would take it all the way to make it a one-point game. It would turn into a defensive battle as Augustana would take a 1-3 lead after the first period. The Pios would open the second period strong as Phillips found the back of the net first. Down 2-3 midway through Carroll would look for momentum. Unfortunately, the Vikings made a 3-0 run to end the half and take a 2-6 lead. Carroll's offense would stall as they gave up three more unanswered goals in the third period and found themselves down 2-9 going into the final period. Carroll wouldn't go scoreless in the second half as Szuba found the back of the net with 11:52 in the game to make it 3-10. However, the Pios would never quite get their offense going in the game and would end up losing 3-12.
The Pioneers head down to Naperville, Ill. on Wednesday, April 19
th to take North Central College. This CCIW conference game will be played at 7:00 PM.
