Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men's Lacrosse Continue to Struggle Through Conference Play

Naperville, Ill. – The Carroll University men's lacrosse team lost to North Central 2-25. The Pios are still searching for their first CCIW win of the year. Freshman Roman Stanley and Brady Raczkowski led the way for the Pioneers, both scoring one goal on the night.

The Pioneers (3-12) only shot 19 times during the game, getting 12 shots on goal. Jake Gehl and Matthew Hehr faced 65 shots throughout the game, with 40 shots on target. Gehl was able to make 11 saves and Hehr contributed four saves himself. Ethan Phillips and Raczkowski led the team in ground balls as Phillips grabbed three and Raczkowski grabbed five. Spencer Lautner and Raczkowski each caused three of Carroll's 10 turnovers on the night.

Both teams would go scoreless in the first five-minutes of the game looking to catch fire. North Central would score a goal just after the 10:00 minute mark, sparking an 0-11 run in the first half of play. The Pioneers would be held scoreless as the pressure from North Central was too much to handle. Coming out of the half, the dominance from North Central would continue as they pushed the lead to 0-17. Raczkowski was able to find the back of the net for the Pioneers first goal with 4:39 to go in the third period. North Central would take a 1-19 lead into the final period of play. With eight-minutes to play Stanley would score a goal of his own to make it a 2-23. As the game had gotten away from the Pios, the final score would end up being 2-25.

The Pioneers look to bounce back against Elmhurst on Saturday, April 22. The game will be celebrating Carroll men's lacrosse senior class starting at 1:00 PM at Schneider Stadium in Waukesha, Wis.
