Waukesha, Wis. – The men's lacrosse team were looking to get their first conference win of the season for their lone senior
Josh Kovach. Unfortunately, the Pios came up short losing to Elmhurst 1-21. Freshman
Ethan Phillips scored the only goal of the day for the Pioneers.
The Pioneers (3-13) only shot 17 times during the game, getting seven shots on goal.
Jake Gehl faced 60 shots throughout the game, with 39 shots on target. Gehl was able to make 19 saves.
Brady Raczkowski led the team in ground balls as he grabbed a season-high eight.
Sam Kopshinsky,
Spencer Lautner and Raczkowski each caused three turnovers to give Carroll nine turnovers on the night.
Elmhurst would open the game by going on a quick 5-0 run in the first six minutes of the game. Forcing Carroll to take an early timeout. Elmhurst would keep the momentum going as they would continue to score and end the first period up 0-9. Carroll would struggle to get their offense going and found themselves down 0-15 at the half. Coming out of the half Elmhurst would score on the opening draw control to make it a 16-0 run. However, Carroll would finally respond as Phillips for the back of the net with 14:07 to go in the third period. This would be the only rhythm Carroll would find on the night, as Elmhurst's defense settled back in and ran away with 1-21 victory.
The Pioneers look to finish off their 2023 strong as they travel to Carthage College on Wednesday, April 26. This will be the final game of the Pioneers 2023 campaign at 7:00 PM in Kenosha, Wis.
