ROCHESTER, NY –
Steven Hermsen of Carroll University men's outdoor track and field added another All-American title to his resume on Friday afternoon at the 2023 NCAA DIII Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Rochester, New York. Hermsen finished in fourth place in the shot put event, finishing with a school-record distance as well. Hermsen entered the event ranked 15
th.
Hermsen, a graduate student from De Pere, Wisconsin, landed a 16.93-meter throw on his first attempt in flight one. Hermsen's distance had him in first place of his flight until round three when he was passed. Hermsen entered the finals still in second place after three throws each from the second 12 throwers in the event. Hermsen's best throw in finals was a 16.50m toss, but he was passed twice during the event to fall to fourth. This is Hermsen's first-ever All-American honor in shot put in indoor and outdoor seasons and his sixth overall All-American performance.
