RACINE, Wis. - Carroll's men's tennis team got their 2024 Spring season started on the right note Friday night, defeating UW-Superior by a score of 6-3. The Pioneers won two of the day's three singles matches, while also winning four of the six singles matches.
In singles play,
Adrian Gomez was victorious at the top flight, 6-4, 6-2, while
Daniel Ezcurra and
Andrew LaBelle won at the number two and three flights, respectively, by scores of 6-4, 6-3 and 7-6 (7-5), 5-7, 1-0 (10-5).
Jack McCaffery also gave Carroll a team point with a tightly-contested number six flight victory, winning 3-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-5).
In doubles action, Gomez and Ezcurra teamed up to win 8-4 at the number one flight.
Andrew LaBelle and
Ryan LaBelle were also victorious in their number two doubles match, which resulted in an 8-6 win.
The Pioneers will try to duplicate their result on Saturday when they'll battle UW-Whitewater at 5 p.m. That match will take place at the Lake Geneva Racquet Club in Lake Geneva, Wis.
