ELMHURST, Ill. - Carroll's volleyball team lost to Elmhurst University in four sets (12-25, 25-20, 23-25, 13-25) Friday night in a hard-fought battle between two CCIW teams. The Blue Jays finished the match with 45 kills and 38 assists, while the Pioneers recorded 26 and 24, respectively.
Carroll (18-10, 1-3 CCIW) was led by
Kylie Wittnebel and
Bronwyn Rowse, whom each recorded eight kills. Wittnebel also led the team with four blocks, while
Maggie McGough paced the Pio defense with a match-high 24 digs.
Payton Depies added 14 assists to lead the team, while
Ashley Miller led Carroll in service aces (2).
Blair Johnson led Elmhurst (12-8, 2-4 CCIW) with 10 kills, while Elise Rossing chipped in with nine and Jada Wiley finished with eight. Wiley led the team in digs (13), while Kellyn Kennedy led the Blue Jays in both assists (18) and service aces (3).
The Pioneers will try to rebound Wednesday when they'll travel to Wheaton (IL) College. Those two teams will battle at 7 p.m. in Wheaton, Ill.
