One day after receiving both the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week and Pio of the Week awards, Carroll Forward
Natalie Gricius has been named to the D3hoops.com National Team of the Week. A native of Oconomowoc, Wis., Gricius helped the 13th-ranked Pioneers win the Hope Tournament over the weekend, en route to Most Valuable Player honors as part of Hope's All-Tournament Team.
In last week's two games, Gricius averaged 19.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. In Friday's 51-point win over Olivet, Gricius scored 12 points in 14 minutes. She followed that up with game-highs of 27 points and eight rebounds in an 80-75 overtime victory at #12 Hope, handing the Dutch just their 12th loss in 272 career games at their home facility, Devos Arena. In that overtime period, Gricius played a vital role, scoring 12 of the team's 15 points in the extra frame, while converting 9-of-14 shots on the day and 8-of-9 from the free throw line.
Gricius is Carroll's second-leading scorer, ranking seventh in the CCIW with 16.3 points per game, which has helped the Pioneers get out to a 4-1 start to the season. She also ranks fifth in the conference in field goal percentage (.500), while also ranking fourth in free throw percentage (.822).
