OSHKOSH, Wis. - The Carroll University women's track and field team placed sixth at Saturday's seven-team Titan Challenge at Kolf Sports Center (hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh).
Carroll used the challenging indoor competition to fine tune their performances for next week's College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Championships.
Vanessa Uitenbroek, a senior from Kaukauna, Wis., won the shot put with a distance of 14.34 meters (47 3/4) and was fourth in the weight throw with 15.76 meters (51-8 1/2) to lead the Pioneers.
Uitenbroek's season-best throw in the shot put came on her third attempt, currently ranking second in the CCIW and fourth in NCAA Division III.
Maria Falk, a junior from Oshkosh, Wis., contributed a second-place finish in the weight throw with a distance of 16.49 meters (54-1 1/4) and was third in shot put 13.38m (43-10 3/4).
Falk is currently seeded fifth in the CCIW and 18th in NCAA Division III in shot put with a season-best distance of 13.45 meters (44-1 1/2) established with a second-place finish at the Dick Hendricks Invitational on Feb. 10.
Rebekah Buboltz added a fourth-place finish in the 800-meter run, clocking in with a time of 2:24.14.
Other individuals placing in the top eight for the Pioneers were:
Lexi Elegbede-Peer, seventh in 60 (7.98);
Grace Kelly, seventh in weight throw 14.35m (47-1) and
Grace Tinder, eighth in pole vault 3.12m (10-2 3/4).
