Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Pioneers Win Second Game In Less Than 24 Hours

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Carroll's women's lacrosse team remained undefeated on the young season with their second win in as many days Sunday afternoon. The 19-3 win at against Augsburg marked the second consecutive game in which Carroll has scored 19 goals, which is tied for 10th in program history.

The Pioneers (2-0) used a big first half to coast to victory, scoring six goals in each of the first two quarters. Abby Stas got the scoring started just two and a half minutes into the contest, scoring off a Grace Brockman assist. Elizabeth Wang added another goal less than one minute later on a Samantha Hurd assist. Carroll continued to put the pedal to the metal with goals by Lauren Fricke and Rebecca Hallman, and two by Grace Brockman to give the Pioneers a 6-0 lead. Two more Wang goals to open the second period gave Carroll an eight-goal advantage, before Augsburg (0-1) got on the board for the first time. Carroll then scored four more goals, coming from Wang, Emma Kimps, and Stas (two). Augsburg scored in the final seconds of the half, but Carroll went into intermission leading 12-2.

The second half was all Carroll as well, as they'd score four goals in the third period, with two apiece by Hurd and Elaina Phaneuf. Hurd added another goal in the fourth, along with Olivia Brome and Zoe Esveldt.

Wang finished with her second career hat trick, with four goals, in her second collegiate game. Stas and Hurd also recorded hat tricks, the third and second of their career, respectively. Brockman added two goals and a game-high four assists, while Elaina Phaneuf also scored two times. Sydney Everett and Devon Duym each received time at goal keeper, with Everett making the team's only save.

Augsburg was led by Jade Wilson, who scored all three of the team's goals, with each one coming unassisted. Nicole Schuster played all 60 minutes at goalkeeper, recording eight saves on the day.
