Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Carroll Offense Continues To Click On All Cylinders In Win Over Saint Mary's (IN)

WAUKESHA, Wis. - Through three games this season, Carroll's women's lacrosse team has scored 17 or more goals in each contest. They defeated Saint Mary's (IN) by a 17-4 score Sunday afternoon, remaining undefeated with a 3-0 record on the early season.

The Pioneers got off to a quick start, taking control of the game with six first quarter goals, the first of which came less than a minute and a half into the contest when Elizabeth Wang found the net. Less than 10 seconds later, Grace Brockman scored on an assist from Abby Stas. Wang would score another goal a few minutes later, assisted by Samantha Hurd, before Saint Mary's got on the board with a Christiana Singler goal to cut the deficit to 3-1. Goals by Rebecca Hallman, Wang, and Brockman would push Carroll's lead to 6-1 after one quarter of play. In the second period, Stas scored the first two goals, before Saint Mary's found the net on an Alyssa Grant goal. Stas would add her third goal of the quarter in the final seconds to complete the hat trick and send Carroll to the locker room leading 9-2.

The second half saw Samantha Hurd and Elaina Phaneuf score to open up plenty of breathing room for the Pioneers. Singler added another goal for Saint Mary's, but Carroll took a 10-goal lead into the final period thanks to goals by Hurd and Wang. Wang would score once more to open the final period, while Hurd would also score another and Stas added two more goals to cap the scoring.

Three Pioneers recorded hat tricks on the day, with Stas and Wang leading the way with five goals apiece. Hurd also had a hat trick with three goals. Brockman added a pair of goals and two assists, while Hallman and Phaneuf also scored. Devon Duym and Sydney Everett each played one half at Goal Keeper for the Pios, combining for three saves.

Saint Mary's was led by two goals from Singler, while Grant and Reese Bauer also scored. Emma Zmudzinski played the entire game at Goal Keeper for the Belles, recording seven saves.

The Pioneers will be in action again on Wednesday when they'll host Marian University. That game will begin at 5 p.m. at Schneider Stadium in Waukesha.
