PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wis. - Both Carroll's men's and women's swim teams are in fifth place after Friday's second day of the swimming competition at the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Championships. The Pioneer men have totaled 139 team points, while the women have compiled 199 total points.

The Carroll women's team saw three swimmers earn a top-10 finish Friday afternoon, led by Josie Peterson's sixth-place finish in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 1:58.34, which was six seconds off the pace of the winning time. Morgan Toupal added an eighth-place finish in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:02.07, which was four seconds shy of the top time, while Kelly Gordon was ninth in the 400 IM with a lifetime-best time of 4:53.91. In the relay competition, Carroll's 800 Freestyle team of Peterson, Gordon, Toupal, and Chopper Ceshker swam a time of 8:17.63 to finish fourth in the event. Gordon finished with another lifetime-best time in that relay, swimming a 2:01.58 split time.

Carroll's men were led by Eddie McConnaha, who finished 10th in the 200 Freestyle with a lifetime-best time of 1:45.82. He also swam the Pioneers' lead leg in the 800 Freestyle Relay, along with Gus Ureta, Dylan Klang, and David Gonzales Jr. That quartet finished with a season-best time of 7:07.13, which was eight seconds behind the next-fastest time.

The Pioneers will conclude the 2024 CCIW Championships on Saturday. That meet will once again take place at the RecPlex Aquatic Center in Pleasant Prairie, Wis., with events beginning at 10:30 a.m.
