NEW BERLIN, Wis. - Carroll's men's tennis team took to the courts once more Friday night, putting up a strong fight, but ultimately losing 5-4 to Roosevelt University. The Pioneers won the top doubles match and the top three singles matches, but it was not enough to pull out the victory.
In doubles play, Carroll's top team of
Adrian Gomez and
Andrew LaBelle defeated Roosevelt's team of Yazid Benchegra and Florian Van Den Brink by a score of 8-6.
Ryan LaBelle and
Felix Persson teamed up for Carroll at the second flight, narrowly losing 7-8 (3-7), while
Jack McCaffery and
David Eman fell in the third flight by a score of 5-8.
During the singles competition, Gomez won his top flight match 6-2, 6-0, before
Andrew LaBelle and
Ryan LaBelle won in three sets apiece at the second and third flight, respectively. Andrew won his match 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-6), while Ryan was victorious 6-1, 2-6, 1-0 (11-9).
Carroll will be in action again next weekend when they'll battle Wartburg College on Saturday, February 17 at 4:30 p.m. at Princeton Club in New Berlin, Wis.
