SEWANEE, Tenn. - Elizabeth Wang set a career high in goals and points for Carroll women's lacrosse on Monday afternoon, but her six was not enough as the Pioneers suffered their first blemish of the 2024 season, falling to Washington College (Md.) 18-8.
Carroll (4-1) found themselves at a 10-1 deficit at end of the first quarter, and the Shorewomen built the lead further in the second, scoring four more before halftime.

The Pioneers cut into the deficit in the third quarter, scoring three goals. Carroll made a valiant effort in the fourth as they scored three more goals, but it was too little too late as Washington left with the victory.
Abby Stas collected three ground balls to lead the Pioneer defense while
Grace Tumilty recorded five draw controls to tie the game high, as well as two caused turnovers for the defense.
Ariana Cullam and
Lauren Fricke each added a goal to join Wang and Phaneuf in scores for the Pios.

Carroll returns to action for game two of their Spring Break trip in Tennessee on Wednesday at 3 p.m. Central Time, when they'll take on Sewanee College.
