MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Carroll men's lacrosse notched their second victory of the season Wednesday afternoon, defeating Huntingdon College 11-6. Carroll's (2-4, 0-0 CCIW) offensive attack was too much to handle for the Hawks, as they outshot Huntingdon 51-35.
Goalie Jake Gehl collected 18 saves in the contest. Five different Pioneers scored and three more collected assists on the day. Ethan Phillips and Brady Mollesson both scored three goals and Brady Conwell collected three assists. Sophomore Jake Wright forced seven ground balls to lead the Carroll defense, while Luke Bridges and Brady Raczkowski were close behind with five apiece.
Carroll kicked off the scoring with a goal from Zachary Szuba under two minutes into the game. Both teams traded goals through the third period, with the Pioneers holding onto a narrow 6-5 lead.
Szuba and Jake Kopocis rattled off three goals to open the fourth period, as Carroll built a sizable lead 9-5. Huntingdon scored one to halt the Pioneer momentum, but Mollesson closed the game out with two unanswered goals and squandered any hopes at a Huntingdon comeback.
Carroll returns to action looking to build on the current momentum on Saturday, March 16as they close their spring break road trip in Rome, Ga. Where they take on Shorter University at 3 p.m.
