SHORTER, Ga. - The Carroll men's lacrosse team brought their Spring Break schedule to a close Saturday afternoon with a 12-4 loss to Shorter University.
Carroll (2-5) jumped on the board early with a goal by
Cole Phillips just one and a half minutes into the contest. Shorter (8-3) then tied things up mid-way through the opening quarter, before
Jake Kopocis gave the Pioneers the lead back with five and a half minutes to play in the quarter. Shorter then scored four consecutive goals, including the first two of the second quarter to take a 5-3 lead late in the half. Shorter then scored the next two goals to end the half and take a four-goal lead into intermission.
Shorter would put the game away in the second half, scoring all three goals in the third quarter, before adding the first two goals of the fourth to take a 12-3 lead. Carroll's
Brady Conwell rounded out the scoring with a goal in the final minutes.
Jake Gehl played all 60 minutes at Goal Keeper for the Pios, making 23 saves. Shorter's Chase Finley and Rhett Thorson combined to make 16 saves in goal.
The Pioneers will be in action again on Wednesday when they'll host Beloit College. That game will begin at 7 p.m. at Schneider Stadium in Waukesha, Wis.
