Carroll Loses Pair of Games

LEESBURG, Fla. - Carroll's three-game winning streak came to an end Wednesday, as the Pioneers softball team lost both of their games, falling to Babson and Mt. St. Joseph by scores of 2-0 and 8-2, respectively.

The day's first game was a classic pitcher's duel, with each team recording just three hits. The game's only runs came in the top of the seventh inning when Babson (4-8) hit a two-out single, which allowed two runs to cross the plate.

Carroll's hits came from Abby Curtis, Reagan Goluch, and Madison Palasz. Curtis also swiped two bases. Riley Pavelka (1-2) earned her first win of the season, allowing zero earned runs on three hits and striking out two in a seven-inning complete game.

The day's second game saw Mt. St. Joseph (5-5) jump on the board early with two runs in the bottom of the first. Carroll (5-7) cut that lead in half the following inning when Sydney Raddeman scored on a groundout. MSJ then added three more runs in the bottom of the third, before Carroll's only other run in the sixth, coming on a bases-loaded error.

Carroll finished the second game with five hits, coming from Curtis, Raddeman, Palasz, Sophia Schmidt, and Antoinette Napoli. Mt. St. Joseph finished the game with nine hits.

The Pioneers will continue their Spring Trip on Thursday when they'll battle Wisconsin Lutheran and Saint Joseph's (ME) at 11:15 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Eastern Time, respectively. Both of those games will be played at Hancock Park in Clermont, Fla.
