RIVER FOREST, Ill. - Carroll's men's lacrosse team made history Saturday afternoon with a convincing 16-2 win at Concordia-Chicago. Not only does that mark the largest margin of victory in a single game in program history, the Pioneers' 16 goals also set a new school record, breaking the previous mark of 15, which was set seven years ago. Leading the Pios' offensive attack was freshman
Brady Conwell, whose six goals break yet another single game program record, snapping the previous mark of five, which was set by Zach Mehrtens in 2022.
The victory improves Carroll's season record to 4-5, which ties the program record for single season victories, with seven games remaining in the regular season. The Pioneers have now won back-to-back games for the second time in program history, and have won three of their last four contests.
The day's scoring was started by who else, but
Brady Conwell, finding the back of the net five and a half minutes into the contest to break a scoreless tie. Conwell would add a second goal a minute and a half later, before Concordia-Chicago got on the board with a goal by Seba Miller.
Luke Bridges then gave Carroll another goal to send the Pios into the second quarter leading 3-1. In that second period, the Pioneers' offense exploded for nine goals, including three by Conwell, two apiece from Brady Mollesen and
Nick White, and one each by
Zachary Szuba and
Josh Kovach.
The Pioneers coasted for the remainder of the game, with Conwell, Bridges, and Mollesen each scoring a goal in the third quarter, before
Nick White capped the scoring on a goal with 11 minutes remaining.
Carroll will try to extend their current win streak to three games Wednesday night, when they'll battle Centenary College (La.) at 7 p.m. at Schneider Stadium in Waukesha, Wis.
