WAUKESHA, Wis.. - Carroll's men's lacrosse team made more history Wednesday night with a dominant 20-5 win against Centenary College (La.). Not only does that mark the largest margin of victory in a single game in program history, the Pioneers' 20 goals also set a new school record, breaking the previous mark of 16, a record that only stood for four calendar days. Leading the Pios' offensive attack were sophomore Brady Mollsen and freshman Luke Bridges, who both scored five goals in the victory.
The victory improves Carroll's season record to 5-5, which ties the program record for single season victories, with seven games remaining in the regular season. As if enough records weren't already broken, the Pioneers secured their first three game win-streak in program history.
The day's scoring was started by Centenary, as they got out to a 2-0 lead less than five minutes into the game. Less than 30 seconds later, Jake Wright kicked off scoring for the Pios with an unassisted goal. The score would be the first of five unanswered goals for Carroll. The Gents responded with two more goals late in the first, and an action-packed opening period concluded with a 5-4 Pioneer lead.
The Pioneers rattled off four unanswered goals in the second period and tallied 10 more in the second half, as Carroll continued to coast throughout the game. Along with five goals from both Bridges and Mollsen, Zachary Szuba and Josh Kovach and three and two more goals, respectively.
Carroll takes some much-deserved time off before they conclude non-conference play looking to extend their current record win streak to four games on Thursday, April 11, when they'll battle Marian University at 7 p.m. at Schneider Stadium in Waukesha, Wis.
