Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Carroll Continues to Set Records in Fourth Straight Victory

WAUKESHA, Wis. - Carroll's men's lacrosse broke yet another statistical record on Thursday night, defeating Marian University (Wis.) and establishing the winningest season in program history. The Pioneers (6-5, 0-0 CCIW) win mark breaks the previous record of five wins in a season set in 2016. The victory also extends the programs longest win-streak to four games.

Carroll's potent offense was led by Josh Kovach and Brady Mollsen, who scored four goals and three goals, respectively. Brady Conwell led the team with four assists. Jake Wright went 15-24 in faceoffs and led the Pios in ground balls with nine.

Carroll was dominant in the first half, scoring three goals in the first and eight more in the second period. The defense remained stout with Jake Gehl collecting eight saves on 12 shots on goal in the first half. Carroll walked into halftime with a demanding 11-0 lead and looked to be cruising to an easy victory.

However, the Sabres (1-7,0-3 NACC) had other plans. Marian took advantage of two extra-man opportunities and scored two consecutive goals in the opening minutes of the third period. Brady Mollsen scored the lone goal of the third for the Pioneers, while Marian cut into the deficit further with two more goals. Heading into the fourth, the score was 12-4. The Sabres had all the momentum, and the Pioneer faithful began holding their breath. Josh Kovach scored less than two minutes into the fourth, easing the tension, and Zachary Szuba scored later in the fourth to seal the game while the defense was able to stave off any hopes of a miraculous comeback. Marian scored on three more extra-man opportunities in the fourth, scoring five of their seven in penalty situations.

Carroll continues their record-setting season on Saturday, April 13 as they open CCIW play at North Central College. Game time in Naperville is set for 2 p.m.
