NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Carroll men's lacrosse was defeated by North Central Saturday afternoon, snapping their program-record win streak at four games. Carroll (6-6, 0-1 CCIW) took 38 shots to the Cardinals' (9-2, 1-1 CCIW) 48 shots in the contest.
Carroll's offense was led by Zachary Szuba, who scored four goals, and Brady Conwell, who tallied three assists.
Carroll scored two goals in the first six minutes of the contest, and held a narrow 3-2 lead after the first period. North Central came out firing in the second period, outscoring Carroll 5-1 to take a 7-4 lead into halftime.
North Central built on the lead coming out of the half, scoring four straight goals in the first five minutes. Brady Conwell and Szuba ended the scoring drought, both tallying unassisted goals to keep the game at a manageable deficit 11-6. North Central scored two goals in the final minute of the third and all but sealed the defeat for Pioneers. Luke Bridges, Szuba, and Josh Kovach all scored goals in the fourth, but the Pioneers were unable to mount a miraculous comeback, leaving Naperville with a 17-9 defeat.
Carroll returns to action on Wednesday, April 17, where they host in-state CCIW foe Carthage. Game time at Schneider Stadium will be at 7 p.m.
