WAUKESHA, Wis. - The Carroll University men's lacrosse team lost to fierce, intra-state league rival Carthage College 21-2 in a College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin game at Schneider Stadium on Wednesday night.
It was the second home-field loss of the season for Carroll, which dropped to 0-2 in the conference standings and 6-7 overall.
Carthage, which improved to 1-2 in league and 7-7 overall, outscored the Pioneers by a 17-0 margin in the first half including seven unanswered goals in the opening quarter. The high-powered Firebirds maintained a 49-21 shot advantage.
Brady Mollsen and
Luke Bridges each scored an unassisted goal in the third quarter for Carroll. Mollsen generated nine shots,
Jake Wright won eight face-off opportunities,
Brady Conwell contributed seven shots and
Spencer Lautner fielded seven ground balls.
Jake Gehl registered 12 saves in playing the entire 60 minutes for Carroll.
The Pioneers are scheduled to face Augustana College in a noon-start CCIW game at Rock Island, Ill. on Saturday, April 20.
