Carroll Women Open Outdoor Season With Statement-Making Effort

Gudaitis, Falk top list of standout individual performances as Pioneers place third at Warrior Invitational

WAUWATOSA, Wis. - The Carroll University women's track and field team finished third in the 11-team Warrior Invitational at Wisconsin Lutheran College's Raabe Stadium on Thursday.
It was the first official outdoor competition of the spring season for Carroll, which generated 118 points with the confidence-building performance.

Cate Gudaitis claimed an individual victory in the discus with a distance of 46.12 meters (151-4) to help lead the Pioneers.
Gudaitis, a two-time outdoor All-American in the event who is currently ranked No. 1 in the nation in NCAA Division III, accomplished the feat on her first attempt.

Maria Falk won the shot put with a distance of 12.89 meters (42-3.5), followed with a victory in hammer throw with a 48.23 meters (158-3) and was fifth in the discus 35.62m (116-10) for the Pioneers.

Rebekah Buboltz contributed a second-place finish in the 1,500-meter run (5:02.35 seconds) and Madeline Simpson was second in pole vault with a height of 2.90 meters (9-6.25).

Other individuals placing within the top eight for Carroll were: Lexi Elegbede-Peer was third in 100 (12.94) and third in 200 (27.05); Ashley Wojciechowski, third in 100 hurdles (18.37) and third in long jump 5.06 meters (16-7.25); Alexandria Ostopowicz, fourth in pole vault 2.60m (8-6.25); Kaitlyn Brucci, fourth in shot put 11.72m (38-5.5); Ani Tollerud, fourth in 800 (2:35.20); Brooke Davies, fourth in 400 (1:08.15); Natalie Parent, fifth in 1,500 (5:19.90); Savannah Krzykowski, seventh in 100 hurdles; Taylor Olund, seventh in 100 (13.35) and seventh in 200 (27.78); Grace Kelly, seventh in hammer throw 39.02m (128-0) and Caroline Plasil, eighth in hammer throw 36.65m (120-3).

Carroll's 4x100 relay team (consisting of Olund, Kaitlyn Gregory, Victoria Watson and Elegbede-Peer) was third in 51.48 seconds.
The Pioneers' 4x400 relay (comprised of Tollerud, Mia Kim, Gabrielle Holbrook and Lucy Beuthin) was fourth in 4:44.84.

The Pioneers are scheduled to host the Wisconsin Private College Championships on Saturday, April 6.
